Joe Ziegler Takes the Helm

“Fun update: for the last 9 Months I’ve been working on Marathon as the game director,” Ziegler shared. “We’re still baking, but I’m excited to share with you more info on the game as we get closer and closer to bringing it to all of you.”

Changes Amid Ongoing Anxiety at Bungie

The shake-up comes amid ongoing anxiety within Bungie following layoffs last year, according to IGN’s Rebekah Valentine. Sources told Valentine that Bungie is “pouring resources into getting Marathon out the door.”

New Character Selection Feature

Changes to the game’s development have also taken place under Ziegler. One such change involves players now selecting from a group of characters rather than custom characters.

Release Date and Platforms

The game still has no set release date, but will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it launches.
