Cyberpunk 2077 Announces Free Trial for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5

The official Twitter account of Cyberpunk 2077 made an exciting announcement on March 14th, revealing that a free trial for the game will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 starting from March 28th, 2023.

Trial Duration and Availability

The trial will commence at 8 AM Pacific Time and run until March 31st, 2023, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red did not mention any plans for a PC free trial at this time.

Playtime and Subscription

The trial offers 5 hours of gameplay for the base game without requiring any subscriptions. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, however, can already experience a 5-hour preview of Cyberpunk 2077.

Why No Free Trial for PC?

CD Projekt Red has yet to disclose the reasons behind the exclusion of PC players from this trial. Despite this setback, it’s worth noting that a similar free trial for Cyberpunk 2077 was offered in 2022 without PC support.

Building Hype for the Next Announcement?

It’s uncertain whether this free trial is a precursor to a significant announcement regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel. The game’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, was released in December 2023. However, there have been recent hints about the development of the sequel, code-named Orion.

Cooperative Gameplay and Job Listings

Last January, an interview with the developers revealed their plans to include cooperative gameplay in the Cyberpunk universe. Additionally, recent job listings for Orion suggest a return of crafting mechanics and more.
