Take-Two Interactive’s 2024 Q3 Earnings Reveal Impressive Sales for Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games’ two latest titles, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, have continued to generate significant revenue for developer and publisher Take-Two Interactive. During the company’s 2024 Q3 earnings call, Take-Two announced that GTA 5 has now sold an impressive 195 million copies, a 5 million increase from the last report. Red Dead Redemption 2 follows closely behind with 61 million units sold.

Excitement for GTA 6 Boosts Franchise Sales

Take-Two’s earnings report also highlighted the success of the Red Dead series, with combined sales exceeding 86 million units. With the highly anticipated GTA 6 in development for a 2025 release, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the excitement surrounding the upcoming game during the Q&A session of the earnings call.

“I do think that excitement around GTA 6 has had a halo effect on the entire franchise,” Zelnick said. He specifically mentioned that both GTA 5 sales and GTA Online have surpassed company expectations.
